Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs while verifying medicine accuracy and checking for interactions. Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, register sales on assigned cash registers, and handle telephone calls for physicians. Manage inventory activities by ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals, and assist in maintaining a clean, stocked, and orderly pharmacy department. Engage customers and patients by greeting them, resolving issues, and offering assistance with products and services to deliver a distinctive customer experience. Complete special assignments as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, or Store Manager, including correcting and resubmitting manual claims for third-party programs. Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program while attending requested training and acquiring continuing education credits.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
