Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in dispensing prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs while verifying accuracy and checking for interactions. Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, manage cash registers, and handle manual claims for third-party programs. Engage customers by greeting them, resolving issues, and proactively offering assistance to ensure a positive experience. Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments, and maintain department cleanliness and supply levels. Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to state and federal regulations. Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program while acquiring continuing education credits.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
