Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy by entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medications, and checking for interactions. Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems, handle cash registers, manage inventory, and coordinate clinical services including blood and urine sample collection. Deliver a distinctive customer experience by greeting patients, resolving issues, and developing strong relationships with the local medical community. Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to state, federal, and company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing and quality improvement. Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program while completing assigned tasks and special assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician
- Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits
- Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications
- Prefer good computer skills
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control
- Prefer PTCB certification
