Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist in dispensing prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs while verifying accuracy and checking for interactions. Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, register sales on the cash register, and handle manual claims for third-party programs. Engage customers and patients by greeting them, resolving issues, and offering proactive assistance to ensure a positive experience. Maintain inventory by ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals, and support clinical services by collecting and labeling blood or urine samples. Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to all state, federal, and company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing and quality improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
- Prefer good computer skills.
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
- Prefer PTCB certification.
