Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in dispensing prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs while verifying accuracy and checking for interactions. Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, register sales on the cash register, and handle telephone calls from physicians. Engage customers by greeting them, resolving issues, and assisting with locating products in the OTC aisle to deliver a distinctive customer experience. Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and perform clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples. Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to all state, federal, and company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing and quality improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (Except in Puerto Rico)
- Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
- Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration
- Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment
- Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens
- Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications
- Prefer good computer skills
- Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control
- Prefer PTCB certification
