Pharmacy Technician- Per Diem Variable

Job Summary
Assist in medication preparation by selecting, counting, compounding, reconstituting, packaging, and labeling per established guidelines. Maintain inventory of medications and supplies, stock emergency crash carts, and process medication requests according to departmental procedures. Refill and deliver unit dose cart fills, pyxis batches, and IV admixture to patient care areas while demonstrating proficiency with automated dispensing cabinets and various pharmacy systems. Perform nursing unit inspections, participate in surveillance programs for expired medications, and assist in precepting new technicians and students. Demonstrate competency in telephone triage and provide prompt customer service to all health care team members.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Ability to work various schedules including day, evenings and third shift
- Good communication skills with all customers of the health system
- Detailed oriented with an inherent quality for accuracy when performing activity within the department
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to identify urgent situations and carry out tasks efficiently to eliminate delays in patient care
- Ability to lift a minimum of 10 pounds
- Ability to see and read physician orders, medication labels, etc.
- Manual dexterity to use computer systems
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and ability to climb stairs as needed

Desired Qualifications
- Completion of formal or NCBOP approved pharmacy technician program
- Six-months to one-year work experience as a pharmacy technician
