Job Summary
Prepare and distribute medications, maintain drug inventory, and manage patient and pharmacy records in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Compounding sterile solutions, mixing orally administered medications, and unit dosing drugs from bulk packaging while adhering to USP <797> standards. Deliver medications to nursing units, screen telephone calls, and reconcile medication bin records with pharmacy and nursing logs. Receive and distribute floor stock requisitions, prepare emergency medication systems, and conduct narcotic perpetual inventories. Ensure compliance with hazardous waste procedures and complete required training for cytotoxic agents and aseptic techniques. Occasional travel to various health system locations required.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent education/ experience
- Clear and current California pharmacy technician license
- Current CPhT or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
- Occasional travel to various health system locations
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer 1 year experience as a pharmacy technician in an acute care setting
- Knowledge of USP <797> and ability to perform aseptic compounding preferred
