Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist in the preparation of IV admixtures and other drugs, and manage pharmacy duties under supervision. Requires basic math, medical terminology knowledge, and good communication skills. Familiarity with pharmacy procedures and drug nomenclature is essential. Prior experience in oncology and certification as a Pharmacy Technician are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- Knowledge and ability to perform basic mathematics
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Aseptic technique knowledge
- Principles of drug distribution knowledge
- Good communication skills
- Familiarization with pharmacy stock and distribution procedures
- Understanding of drug nomenclature
- Ability to perform dosage calculations
- Ability to recognize commonly used drug names
- Ability to understand uses of medications
- Ability to read a prescription
- Experience in IV admixture including use of syringes
Desired Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician certification preferred
- Previous experience in oncology preferred
