Pharmacy Technician

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the preparation, dispensing, and delivery of medications. Manages medication inventory, performs billing for IVs, medications, and floor stock, and handles access to medications and storage areas. Fills Pyxis, Pyxis Cubbies, and non-Pyxis medications for Nursing units; assists in IV preparation; interviews patients or caregivers to obtain medication histories and enters data into the patient information system for Medical Staff review; delivers initial medication orders to patient care areas; conducts inventory functions, records par levels, and places electronic orders; processes returns to stock for IVs and medications; receives and stores medications and IV fluids; answers calls regarding missing medications; runs pharmacy information system reports (e.g., allergy and expired medications); fills stock orders and checks expiration dates; adheres to fire, disaster, and safety procedures relevant to the work area; performs related duties as assigned.
