Job Summary
Assist patients with prescription drop-offs, verify profiles, and enter accurate prescription information into the computer system. Communicate with insurance carriers to process claims and assist the pharmacist in filling, labeling, and compounding medications under direct supervision. Verify customer prescriptions at point of sale, manage pharmacy inventory by checking stock levels and expediting orders, and answer phone inquiries from prescribers and patients. Pre-package bulk medications for outlying sites and maintain a clean work area adhering to pharmacy guidelines. Work full-time or part-time with flexible hours, float between sites as necessary, and provide local travel with expense reimbursement. Requires a Michigan pharmacy technician license, BLS certification, and six months of retail or hospital experience.
Required Qualifications
- State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician licensure
- PTCB certification
- NHA certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- High School graduate or equivalent education
- Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs
- Must be a licensed driver with proof of personal liability and property damage insurance
- Able to type accurately at 35 wpm
- Able to do basic pharmaceutical math quickly and accurately
- Knowledge of medication brands and generic names
- Knowledge of insurance and third-party payment systems
- Must have excellent attention to detail
- Must be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively
- Understanding of medical terminology and calculations
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population
- Professional and courteous attitude
- Professional respect for patient's rights to confidentiality
- Exhibits a team-based approach to customer service
- Local travel between sites
- Float between sites as necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Six months previous retail or hospital pharmacy experience
- Pharmacy program literacy
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
