Job Summary
Coordinate prescription processing, insurance claims, and prior authorizations while managing POS transactions, cash reconciliation, and 340B stock tracking. Accurately enter patient demographics, calculate dosages, and package medications for dispensing or home delivery. Assist with inventory control, shelf sweeps, drug recalls, and restocking OTC items. Handle incoming calls, faxes, and customer inquiries regarding pricing and product information. Maintain patient confidentiality, comply with HIPAA and state pharmacy regulations, and participate in staff development meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License, and proof of insurance for personal vehicle used for business
- Graduate of an accredited high school or GED
- Required to become a registered technician with the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy upon hire
- Must demonstrate basic computer skills
- Must possess ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, and other individuals encountered in the course of employment
- Must be able to talk, see, hear, react, stand, kneel, walk and lift up to 50 lbs
- Possess cognitive skills necessary to read and interpret prescription information, understand and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Possess knowledge of pharmaceutical and related medical technology, metric and apothecary systems of weights and measurements
- Possess knowledge of prescription drugs and the dispensing function to check for correctness
- Possess knowledge of use and side effects of prescription and non-prescription drugs
- Possess knowledge of medical safety standards to manufacture and work with pharmaceutical substances
- Must demonstrate tact, patience, ethical conduct and good communications skills in dealing with patients and office staff
- Must insure confidentiality of all records and accounts
- Must have the ability to follow all rules set forth by the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, BNDD, etc
- Must comply with the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996
Desired Qualifications
- One year of pharmacy experience preferred
