Job Summary

Assist the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care for patients ranging from newborn to elderly by accurately preparing intravenous solutions, admixtures, and sterile infusion medications using aseptic technique. Learn to identify variable dosage requirements for different age groups, consult on concerns, and maintain proper aseptic technique within the LAFW/BSC in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Accurately label, package, and store products prior to shipment, while maintaining the pharmacy and clean room in an organized, well-stocked manner. Support daily, weekly, and monthly quality assurance activities, including temperature monitoring, and assist with quarterly inventory counts. Handle the lifting of 35-pound boxes of fluid for clean room compounding processes and restock inventory delivered on pallets. Follow NELC policies and procedures in the normal conduct of company business, with other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification/Licensure as Pharmacy Technician as required by state specific Board of Pharmacy regulations WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE DATE
  • Ability to perform accurate dosage calculations when filling various prescriptions for all age populations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and customers
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge / practical experience with microcomputer systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Dependability in attendance and job performance
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Both positions also require the lifting of 35-pound boxes of fluid to supply the needs of the clean room compounding processes
  • The Pharmacy Technician is also primarily responsible for restocking inventory (in the form of 35-pound boxes) as it is delivered on pallets

Desired Qualifications

  • One (1) year (minimum) experience in IV admixtures using an IV laminar flow hood in hospital or homecare setting preferred, but not mandatory
