Job Summary
Process and submit prior authorizations for specialty medications, follow up with payers to expedite approvals, and assist patients in obtaining financial aid including copay cards and grants. Manage cold chain packaging for temperature-sensitive medications, coordinate shipping, and track deliveries to ensure compliance. Support specialty pharmacy patients with medication adherence, refill reminders, and care coordination while communicating with healthcare providers. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, collaborate with the quality assurance team on documentation, and coordinate inventory management with pharmacy and clinic teams. Work with pharmacists and healthcare providers to facilitate seamless patient care and participate in team meetings for workflow improvements. This clinic-based role involves regular interaction with patients and professionals in a fast-paced environment emphasizing regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
- Met Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain registration
- PHRMTECHR-Registered Pharmacy Technician
- PHARMT-Pharmacy Technician
- PHARMC-Certified Pharmacy Technician
- PHARMI-Pharmacy Intern
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of generic and trade pharmaceutical names
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations
- Knowledge of laws and regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings
- Knowledge of narcotic delivery and procedures
- Ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms
- Ability to employ abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications
- Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission standards
- Knowledge of Title XXII requirements
- Knowledge of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements
- Knowledge of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) requirements
- Knowledge of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements
