Pharmacy Technician- Inpatient (FT- 0.9 FTE, Variable Shift)

Job Summary

Compound and dispense IV medications, chemotherapy, and hazardous drugs using aseptic technique and closed system transfer devices. Perform medication reconciliation by obtaining patient histories within 24 hours of admission and documenting them in the electronic health record. Check oral and IV medications filled by other technicians for accuracy. Ensure clean operation of sterile rooms and IV hoods while replenishing automated dispensing cabinets. Work variable shifts including weekends and after-hours as needed, with on-call availability to respond promptly to patient needs. Maintain competencies through routine quality assurance checks and complete required didactic training and examinations.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician or Technician in Training licensed by the Montana Board of Pharmacy
  • Sterile IV room training and competencies
  • Chemotherapy IV preparation training and competencies
  • Medication reconciliation training
  • Technician Checking Technician (Tech check Tech or TCT) training
  • Routine quality assurance checks
  • Acquire Montana License for Tech in Training within 30-days of hire
  • National Certification as Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) upon hire OR will be required to become certified within one year of obtaining Technician in Training license
  • 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of aseptic technique for preparing sterile products
  • Completion of didactic training and written examination requirements for TCT role
