Job Summary
Pharmacy Technician III drives dispensing workflow under a registered pharmacist, performing drug-order processing, unit-dose and sterile product preparation, IV admixture, narcotics handling, and inventory tasks across inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include preparing medication orders, entering/refilling patient profiles, auditing medications against records, packaging extemporaneous and STAT doses, maintaining emergency medication systems, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Works rotating 40-hour weeks with AM/PM shifts, every-other weekend, at Feinberg 9th floor pharmacy with rotations to other Northwestern Memorial Hospital pharmacies. Requires high school diploma, Illinois license as a Pharmacy Technician, and CPhT or ExCPT certification (post-2008 licensing window). The role emphasizes collaboration with pharmacists, accuracy in dispensing, and adherence to quality and compliance protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR)
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB or ExCPT through NHA (for all licensed after 2008)
