Job Summary
Assist the pharmacist with interpreting healthcare provider prescription orders, entering data into the core pharmacy system, and notifying physicians of incomplete or incorrect information. Obtain accurate verbal orders and missing prescription details, manage patient adherence processes, and schedule medication deliveries. Communicate with health insurance payors to investigate benefits and transmit test claims, while triaging patient calls to nursing or pharmacists as needed. Identify process improvements to increase operational efficiency and collaborate with internal and external teams to support changing business priorities. Maintain Illinois Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure and complete role-based training requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Maintain current Illinois Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure
- Meet applicable Pharmacy Technician Licensure and Certification requirements no later than first day of employment
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience within a Specialty Pharmacy or Retail/Mail Order Pharmacy, PBM, or healthcare provider setting
- Familiarity with medical record handling/documentation
- Prescription data entry
- High quality customer service
- Inter-professional communication
- Strong core insurance (Medical and Pharmacy benefit) knowledge
- Experience with on-line verification systems or similar
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to make high-quality decisions
- Ability to operate under general supervision
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with other healthcare professionals
- Strong computer skills including accurate data entry
- Microsoft Word or Excel software applications
- Ability to work during business hours
