Job Summary
Support pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy activities, including loading and refilling Pyxis stock levels, dispensing medications for inpatients (including narcotics), preparing neonatal oral liquids and other extemporaneous products, and packaging/distributing drugs and sterile products. Performs general pharmacy duties such as medication dispensing, deliveries, checking stock levels, and picking medications; answers phones and assists nurses with Pyxis questions and drawer maintenance; inspects nursing units for proper drug storage, stability, and expiration dates, and maintains drug reliability in the pharmacy. Maintains records of orders, processes patient charges, and collects productivity statistics. Participates in and assists with management of the technical staff of the department. This is a full-time evening-shift role with shift/weekend differentials; Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA offers benefits from day 1 and a competitive pay range of $20-$27/hour based on experience and PTCB certification where applicable. Required Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a hospital-based, community college or military technician training program preferable
- Current state (MA) registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required to start
- PTCB national certification preferred or must be obtained within 6 months
- Previous experience strongly preferred
- IV and compounding experience preferred
