Job Summary
Prepare and dispense medications by assisting pharmacists with labeling, processing orders, and entering prescription data into pharmacy systems. Manage medication inventory through ordering, receiving, stocking, and removing expired drugs while verifying accuracy and monitoring expiration dates. Ensure proper storage and security of all medications, including controlled substances, and maintain accurate patient and medication records. Provide customer service to patients and hospital staff while ensuring compliance with state, federal regulations, and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
- Active Pharmacy Technician licensure in the State of Louisiana
- One (1) year of pharmacy technician experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medication safety and handling procedures
- Familiarity with pharmacy laws and regulations
- Basic understanding of pharmacy operations and medication terminology
- Visual acuity sufficient to read medication labels, written communication, and computer screens
- Ability to lift, push, or pull boxes, medication inventory, medication carts, etc. weighing up to 25 pounds
