Pharmacy Technician - Full Time, Days (Bethlehem Campus)

Job Summary

Deliver medications, perform unit dose activities including filling patient orders and cassettes, and manage ADT updates and floor stock. Prepare prepackaged medications and extemporaneous compounds under pharmacist supervision while maintaining aseptic technique and appropriate log books. Handle IV admixture responsibilities such as labeling solutions, restocking supplies, and preparing parenteral nutrition and anti-neoplastic solutions. Perform routine medication area inspections, maintain controlled substance records, and process CD Module returns. Direct drug information questions to pharmacists, communicate pertinent information to the next shift, and participate in training new employees. Requires successful completion of on-the-job training within six months of employment.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of six months previous hospital pharmacy experience
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training in each area of the department within the first six months of employment
  • Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee (required for new applicants)
  • Board registration as Pharmacy Technician within 180 days of hire
  • Active status through Board of Pharmacy in the state(s) they work in
  • State Registration with PA Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician (preferred upon hire)
  • Registration application filed within 10 days of hire date (NJ)
  • Registration with the state board within 180 days of hire date (NJ)
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to eight hours per day and up to three consecutive hours
  • Ability to continuously finger
  • Ability to frequently handle
  • Ability to grasp and twist
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to frequently, continuously stair climb and decent while carrying up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to periodically, extend walking
  • Ability to occasionally push and pull up to 200 pounds
  • Ability to frequently stoop and bend
  • Ability to repetitively look up
  • Ability to occasionally crouch
  • Ability to continuously reach above shoulder level
  • Ability to frequently neck bend
  • Hearing as it relates to normal conversation, high and low frequency
  • Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, far vision, color vision and peripheral vision
  • Ability to work a weekend & holiday rotation

Desired Qualifications

  • Registered Pharmacy technicians must maintain active status through Board of Pharmacy in the state(s) they work in
  • State Registration with PA Board of Pharmacy, as a Pharmacy Technician preferred upon hire
  • State Registration with NJ Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, preferred upon hire
  • Must be board registered as Pharmacy Technician within 180 days of hire
  • Pharmacy students registered as a Pharmacy Intern in PA do not need to also register as a Pharmacy Technician
