Job Summary
Assists pharmacists with filling medication orders and IV admixtures; restocks Pyxis machines and nursing units; verifies integrity of medications; delivers filled orders and collects new orders to be filled; prepares and maintains records of medications not prepackaged; assists as a 'second check' in the order entry process; supports sterile/compounded preparations. Requires High School diploma or GED and Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT certification, or Pharmacy Intern Permit (PHINTERN) as applicable by state licensing board; travel is rarely required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1 year Sterile Products
- 1 year Sterile Compounding
- 1 year Pharmaceutical/Pharmacology
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certification
- ExCPT certification
- Pharmacy Intern Permit (PHINTERN) - State Licensing Board
- PTCB Certification required for those with pharmacy tech license
- ExCPT certification for those with pharmacy tech license
- N/A if intern
