Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician (Float) is responsible for assisting patients with prescriptions, ensuring accurate patient and insurance profiles, and communicating with insurance carriers for claim payments. The role involves working directly with pharmacists to fill and label prescriptions, maintain pharmacy inventory, and answer phone inquiries. Candidates should possess a high school diploma, a state pharmacy technician license, and preferably six months of pharmacy experience. Key skills include attention to detail, basic pharmaceutical math, and effective communication. The role may require lifting up to 25 lbs and may involve travel between sites.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician
- Six months previous retail or hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to type accurately at 35 wpm
- Knowledge of medication brands and generic names
- Knowledge of insurance and third-party payment systems
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task efficiently
- Understanding of medical terminology and calculations
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician through PTCB or NHA
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Pharmacy program literacy preferred
