Job Summary
Pharmacy Technician (aka Patient Advocate) will receive and fill prescriptions requests for patients from hospitals, physicians, nurses or directly from the patient. Responsibilities include retrieving prescription orders, counting, pouring, measuring and weighing tablets and medications, compounding, selecting proper containers, creating prescription labels, and after filling, pricing and filing the prescription for pharmacist checks. Also handles daily pharmacy operations such as processing third party claims, maintaining patient profiles, cash register transactions, answering phones, taking inventory of OTC medications, staying aware of medicine availability, and maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program or equivalent experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and safety standards
- Proficient in computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly
- Standing for long periods of time
- Lifting up to 25lbs
