Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for performing technical tasks in the unit dose, carry and out-patient drug distribution systems, including picking up medication orders, filling and labeling medications, and assisting in maintaining accurate patient profiles. The role requires knowledge of pharmacy practices and the ability to work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Responsibilities also include distributing medications, maintaining pharmacy areas, and preparing weekly pharmacy stock orders. The position requires effective interpersonal skills, as routine contact with inmates, healthcare staff, and outside agencies is necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • High School or equivalency diploma

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician Training program or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Certified pharmacy technicians by PTCB
  • Demonstrated pharmacy competence and independent decision making/problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of brand/generic names and drug uses
  • Able to use email, scanners, copiers and fax machines
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
