Job Summary
Identify and fill medications, surgical kits, and emergency carts; prepare sterile compounds and IV admixtures including hazardous drugs and chemotherapy. Label patient medications according to computer profiles, package items into unit-of-use forms, and maintain preparation logs. Deliver medications to nursing units, manage automated dispensing cabinet inventory, and rotate floor stock to reduce expiration. Handle controlled substances with security, reconcile dispenses, and perform unit inspections and emergency cart checks. Enter patient charges and maintain required documentation. This casual, non-benefited role requires a Pharmacy Technician License and CPhT certification, with weekend coverage and minimum 16 hours monthly. Scheduled as needed based on departmental needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR)
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB or NHA required for all licensed after 2008 (within 6 months of hire or sooner if required by IL pharmacy practice act)
- Weekend coverage
