Job Summary
Under the direction of a Pharmacist, performs a variety of functions related to preparation, storage, distribution and dispensing of prescriptions in the inpatient hospital setting. Rotation through IV admixture and unit dose service is routine, with possible rotation to OR Pharmacy Services and Outpatient Pharmacy Services. Performs data entry and other record-keeping functions as necessary to operations. Ensures medication safety and provides education to patients and families about medications. Works as part of a healthcare team to review orders, prepare and dispense medications, and monitor for interactions to optimize therapy. Night shift commitment (9:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.) with a 40-hour work week and a 7 days on/7 days off schedule. Requires a general high school diploma or GED and preferably ASHP-accredited technician training or related experience; MI license preferred.
Required Qualifications
- A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a general high school diploma program or GED
- Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program
