Job Summary
Pharmacy Tech, Specialty Pharmacy Rep at Jefferson Health drives refill queues and assists patients, physicians and pharmacists with claim adjudication/review, benefits investigations, financial assistance applications, refill/adherence activities, and related programs to optimize patient therapy. Responsibilities include entering patient information (name, DOB, insurance, allergies, medication history) into therapy-specific software, assisting with filling and distribution of prescriptions under the supervision of a patient care pharmacist, adjudicating and reviewing reimbursement and profitability of claims, analyzing claims messages for next steps (prior authorizations, benefits investigations, step therapy, non-formulary, financial assistance), scheduling delivery of high-dollar or specialty medications, assessing patient need for clinical intervention, identifying barriers to care, updating patient charts, explaining insurance coverage to patients, screening for financial assistance, printing paperwork, tracking deliveries, and contributing to quality assurance activities. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA, and applicable billing for commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare programs; proficient computer skills; ability to communicate professionally with patients, providers, payors and staff; adaptability to changing departmental needs; and ability to learn and apply clinical software systems. Educational/training requirements include high school diploma or GED preferred and AS/BS degree preferred; CPhT preferred. Work shift: Day, United States of America.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- AS/BS degree preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred
- 3+ years experience in customer service
- 1+ years experience in a specialty pharmacy, hospital, health insurance company, benefits department or other related healthcare environment
