Job Summary
Ensure patients receive correct medication by packaging and labeling doses, filling routine stock orders for patient care areas, and assisting with IV admixture preparation and delivery under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Comply with standards, ethics, laws, and regulations governing pharmacy practice, including MS Board of Pharmacy and Accreditation Agency standards, while adhering to Singing River Health System procedures. Maintain superior communication skills to exchange detailed information in person and by telephone, demonstrating emotional stability to handle high stress levels and meet deadlines. Requires standing for extended periods, walking, and multitasking in complex situations. Day shift position with flexible hours between 6 am and 10:30 pm, including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician by the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy
- Must possess a valid Pharmacy Technician Registration from the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate, speak, and enunciate to express/exchange ideas and detailed information in person and on the telephone
- Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities
- Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills
- Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels
- Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations
- Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations
- Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
- Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
- Must be able to work flexible hours
- Must be able to stand, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day-to-day activities
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of a pharmacy technician training program
- Experience as a pharmacy technician
