Job Summary
Receives, stickers, and stocks daily medication orders while ensuring barcode recognition in facility systems. Performs sterile and non-sterile compounding of intravenous, topical, and oral products using aseptic technique. Maintains assigned nursing station med room compliance, troubleshoots cabinet issues, and investigates controlled substance discrepancies. Tracks department temperature and humidity measurements and documents lot numbers and expiration labels. Works the 2nd shift in DeKalb Pharmacy with a high school diploma required and PTCB certification needed within six months.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Proficiency in patient care
- Oral communication skills
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given
- Alabama Board of Pharmacy licensure
- Certification by the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 6 months of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in written and verbal communications
- Mathematical calculations
- Typing of not less than 40 words per minute
- Computer literate
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with the public
- Ability to perform within time frame without loss of accuracy
