Job Summary
Receives, stickers, and stocks daily medication orders while ensuring barcode recognition in facility systems. Performs sterile and non-sterile compounding of liquids and solid dosage forms using aseptic technique. Repackages medications into unit-dose packaging, documents lot numbers and expiration labels, and maintains compliance with policy in the assigned nursing station med room. Troubleshoots med cabinet issues, investigates controlled substance discrepancies, and performs audit reviews. Tracks and logs department temperature and humidity measurements. Requires Alabama Board of Pharmacy licensure with PTCB certification within six months.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED equivalent
- proficiency in patient care
- oral communication skills
- ability to follow directions
- ability to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given
- Alabama Board of Pharmacy licensure
- certification by the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 6 months of employment
