Job Summary
Conduct pharmacy-related functions under pharmacist direction, including pediatric dose compounding, non-sterile and TPN compounding, and advanced inventory fulfillment at the Pharmacy Consolidated Service Center. Interpret and prepare medication orders by filling provider orders, kits, automated dispensing cabinets, and floor stock requisitions while accurately entering patient charges. Deliver medications to patient care areas, handle controlled substances, and perform quality assurance tasks such as expiration checks, temperature monitoring, and equipment maintenance. Mentor new personnel and provide excellent customer service by answering phones within three rings and servicing the pharmacy window.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; OR post high school degree
- Six (6) months experience as a Pharmacy Tech
- Certified Pharmacy Tech with the State Board of Pharmacy
- Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology
- Good mathematical, computer, and aseptic technique skills
- Knowledge of State BOP/Dept of Health/DEA rules/regulations
- Interpersonal skills in dealing with subordinates, peers, supervisors and others outside the department
- Problem solving abilities
- Ability to work in team situations
- Ability to handle urgent, stressful conditions
- Knowledge of office equipment
- Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database, data entry)
- Mathematical skills
- Variable shift availability
