Job Summary
Conduct sterile and non-sterile compounding, manage inventory, monitor diversion, process mail order, and report medication safety issues. Collect, verify, and document accurate medication histories for patients while assisting the pharmacist and care team during emergency situations. Collaborate with pharmacists, primary care providers, and stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely medication delivery and high-quality patient service. Maintain familiarity with 1,000 to 2,000 medications and solve logistical problems with minimal supervision. Requires registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals and Board Certification within six months.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 2 years of pharmacy experience
- Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals
- Pharmacy Technician Certified Board Certification relevant to work area within 6 months of hire
- Ability to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications
- Attention to detail/accuracy
- Customer service orientation
- Knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard
- Ability to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment
- Ability to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision
- Successful completion of Pharmacy Service Line competencies within 6 months of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Successful completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course
