Job Summary
Under the direction of a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with departmental policies and procedures and participates as an active member of the pharmacy team to provide pharmaceutical care for patients. In the acute care space, technicians operate basic automation, perform inventory fulfillment, and complete sterile compounding in non-hazardous settings; in the retail space, technicians fill and sell prescriptions. Responsibilities include interpreting and preparing medication orders, filling kits and trays, managing automated dispensing cabinets and floor stock, handling controlled substances per regulations, operating cash register for payments, and contributing to an efficient work environment through documentation, prioritization, customer service, and collaboration with pharmacy staff. The role supports training and mentorship of new personnel and pharmacy interns, and reports to a supervisor/management as a non-management position. Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, Pharmacy Tech Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Tech Certification within 2 years of hire, and proficiency in pharmacy terminology, computer skills, and regulatory knowledge.
