Job Summary
Accurately interpret and prepare medication orders by filling provider orders, kits, trays, automated dispensing cabinets, and floor stock requisitions. Complete cart fills, code tray refills, and sterile compounding in non-hazardous settings while handling controlled substances in compliance with regulations. Operate cash registers, manage inventory, and deliver medications to patient care areas or departments per established schedules. Perform quality assurance tasks including expiration checks, temperature monitoring, and equipment maintenance. Screen and prioritize calls, answer pharmacy window requests, and mentor new personnel.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; OR post high school degree
- Pharmacy Tech Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy
- Pharmacy Tech Certification required within 2 years (24 months) of hire date
- Thorough knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology
- Good mathematical, computer, and aseptic technique skills
- Knowledge of BOP/Dept of Health/DEA rules/regulations
- Interpersonal skills in dealing with subordinates, peers, supervisors and others outside the department
- Problem solving abilities
- Ability to work in team situations, handle urgent, stressful conditions
- Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database)
- Data entry skills
