Job Summary
Oversee pharmacy purchasing specialists, technicians, and support staff while managing medication and supply procurement workflows, purchase orders, and invoice authorizations. Monitor inventory, distribution, and record keeping to ensure critical drug availability, compliance with 340B policies, and adherence to hazardous drug handling standards. Collaborate with IT teams to maintain Charge Description Master systems, automate dispensing technology, and manage split-billing software. Identify product shortages, coordinate alternate sources, and mitigate supply disruptions through vendor outreach and quarterly business reviews. Supervise up to eight FTE staff, conduct performance evaluations, and lead operational improvements to optimize drug spend and minimize waste. Manage State of Rhode Island vaccine supplies and emergency medication code kits while ensuring timely communication with departmental leadership and external health authorities.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- One to two years of college
- Current unrestricted Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician II licensure
- Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician
- Experience with purchasing and supply chain
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Familiarity with purchasing and interdependent software information systems
- Ability to navigate RxStrategies
- Ability to navigate PharmNotes
- Ability to navigate PeopleSoft
- Ability to navigate ConsortiEX
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to push and pull a loaded flatbed
- Ability to bend and lift up to 30 pounds
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer
- Highly self-motivated
- Independently accountable
