Job Summary
Pharmacy Purchasing Coordinator collaborates with pharmacy, nursing, and medical personnel to ensure medication and supplies are available when and where needed. Responsibilities include coordinating medication ordering, managing medication recalls, maintaining organized records for drug supplies including controlled substances, monitoring shortages with Pharmacy leadership, handling billing and interdepartmental accounts related to pharmacy orders, providing back-up staffing, maintaining off-site record storage, preparing medication invoices, and participating in quality improvement and training initiatives. Requires interaction with customers and adherence to The Joint Commission standards and state/federal regulations; supervision by a licensed pharmacist in Kansas; potential involvement in Quality Management and Patient Management Programs as applicable.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate
- Bachelors Degree preferred
- 2 or more years experience as a pharmacy technician in a large hospital setting
- Experience in pharmacy purchasing
- Pharmacy Technician Registration - State Board of Pharmacy
