Pharmacy Intern | Retail

Assists in drug preparation, storage, distribution, inventory management, and patient education within a variety of pharmacy environments under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Inputs/prepares labels and packages inpatient or outpatient medication orders and prescriptions to maintain an efficient, accurate, and high-quality medication delivery system. Communicates with nursing staff, physicians, customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management; participates in interdepartmental work groups and committees to promote high-quality communication and prevent patient harm. Demonstrates knowledge of medications, calculations, regulations, PPE, and promotes patient safety to ensure high-quality care and compliance. Performs clerical functions such as billing and pharmacy inventory to support efficient medication distribution. Assists with collection and maintenance of records for accreditation bodies (e.g., URAC, Joint Commission, OSHA) as required by law or policy. Under pharmacist supervision, obtains patient medication histories and provides education to improve adherence and outcomes.
