Job Summary
Obtains supplies, prepares, and labels drug orders under direct supervision of a pharmacist. Calculates and compounds aliquot doses, then distributes and transports medications to patient care areas. Monitors inventory levels, stocks shelves, maintains order and cleanliness in assigned areas, and keeps all required records. Receives or initiates verbal medication orders if authorized by the supervising pharmacist. Makes beneficial recommendations for improvements in procedures, guidelines, and continuing education training. Provides training and participates in the in-service training of departmental employees and students.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved technician course OR current enrollment or letter of acceptance in a professional academic pharmacy program at an accredited university
- Satisfactory progress maintained in the professional academic pharmacy program
- current registration with State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy intern
- Knowledge of National, State, and Corporate regulations and standards
- Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology
- Mathematical skills
- Problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in team situations
- Ability to handle urgent, stressful situations
- Ability to exhibits interpersonal skills in interacting with supervisors, peers, and others outside pharmacy
- Corporate and departmental mandatory training required annually
