Job Summary

Graduate Pharmacy Intern role within CVS Health's Retail pharmacy operations. You’ll apply your PharmD education in a real-world setting, following a comprehensive 120-day training roadmap under a preceptor and district leadership. Responsibilities include supporting pharmacy teams to ensure safe, accurate prescription fulfillment, applying SOPs, providing empathetic customer service, counseling patients when appropriate, taking telephonic prescriptions, assisting with immunizations where allowed by state law, coordinating inventory and cycle counts, and contributing to patient safety and quality assurance through drug utilization review and red-flag detection. The role emphasizes learning across store, district, and regional operations, with opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, participate in immunization activities (subject to state requirements and licensure), and travel to nearby stores as needed to support market coverage. Qualifications require PharmD from a U.S. accredited program and the ability to obtain state pharmacist licensure within specified timelines; intern/technician licensure as applicable; strong communication, customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving skills; flexibility for scheduling, including nights and weekends; and comfort with routine pharmacy duties, immunizations, and basic Microsoft Office proficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
  • Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
  • Failure to obtain required Pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation will result in separation of employment
  • Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • Essential Functions: Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety

  • Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
  • Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to use math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and/or number of full bottles and additional bottles needed to fill a prescription
  • Problem Resolution: Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action when faced multiple options

  • Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $19.75 - $42.00
