Job Summary
Pharmacy Intern opportunities involve supporting inpatient pharmacy operations, including inventory control and formulary maintenance, processing medication orders, and ensuring accurate documentation. Responsibilities include stocking and refilling medications (including narcotics) per policy, maintaining paperwork for reporting and tracking, verifying drug dispenses for patient billing, conducting daily rounds to monitor emergency drug boxes and medication dispense machines, and safeguarding protected health information. The role requires enrollment in an accredited pharmacy program or current licensure eligibility and adherence to state board requirements, with opportunities for tuition assistance and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Meets State board of pharmacy registration or licensure requirement in the state of employment.
- Enrolled in a professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy that has been approved by the Board and satisfactorily progressing toward meeting the requirements for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- A graduate of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of Pharmacy or a graduate who has established educational equivalency by obtaining a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination CommitteeTM (FPGEC®) Certificate, who is currently licensed by the Board of Pharmacy for the purpose of obtaining practical experience as a requirement for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- Qualified applicant awaiting examination for licensure or meeting Board requirements for re-licensure.
