Job Summary
Pharmacy Intern role focused on inventory control, formulary maintenance, dispensing, and ensuring regulatory compliance within a hospital pharmacy setting. Responsibilities include managing inventory (including narcotics), ordering and receiving medications, maintaining floor stock and IV supplies at appropriate par levels, processing paperwork for reporting and tracking, reviewing patient pharmacy profiles and drug dispensing data for accurate billing, reconciling narcotics, maintaining the narcotics sign-out file, transferring pharmacy charges to the business office, prioritizing and delivering STAT orders, entering and verifying orders, conducting daily rounds to check emergency drug boxes and dispense machines, and handling all PHI. The position requires licensure or enrollment in a PharmD program, with eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist, and familiarity with pharmacy policies and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Meets State board of pharmacy registration or licensure requirement in the state of employment
- Enrolled in a professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy that has been approved by the Board and satisfactorily progressing toward meeting the requirements for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR A graduate of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of Pharmacy or a graduate who has established educational equivalency by obtaining a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination CommitteeTM (FPGEC®) Certificate, who is currently licensed by the Board of Pharmacy for the purpose of obtaining practical experience as a requirement for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR Qualified applicant awaiting examination for licensure or meeting Board requirements for re-licensure.
