Job Summary
Pharmacy Intern role supports inventory control, formulary maintenance, dispensing of medication including unit-dose systems, narcotics management, and routine paperwork in an inpatient/post-acute care setting. Responsibilities include maintaining formulary and medication records, performing daily rounds to check emergency drug boxes and dispensing machines, handling pharmacy paperwork for reporting and tracking, reconciling narcotics and dose monitoring, ensuring floor stock and IV medications are kept at appropriate par levels, transferring pharmacy charges to the business office, prioritizing orders, and entering/filling orders for pharmacist verification. Requires licensure/registration with the State Board of Pharmacy and enrollment or graduation from an approved PharmD program, with eligibility/licensure pursued for practical experience.
Required Qualifications
- Meets State board of pharmacy registration or licensure requirement in the state of employment
- Enrolled in a professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy that has been approved by the Board and satisfactorily progressing toward meeting the requirements for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- A graduate of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of Pharmacy or a graduate who has established educational equivalency by obtaining a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certificate, who is currently licensed by the Board of Pharmacy for the purpose of obtaining practical experience as a requirement for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- Qualified applicant awaiting examination for licensure or meeting Board requirements for re-licensure
