Job Summary
Pharmacy Intern provides inventory control, formulary maintenance, medication dispensing (including unit-dose system and dispense machine refills), narcotics inventory and sign-out management, floor stock maintenance, and related paperwork. Responsibilities include maintaining pharmacy records and paperwork for reporting and tracking, reviewing pharmacy profiles for accurate billing, reconciling narcotics doses administered, ensuring floor stock and emergency boxes meet policy, conducting pharmacy inspections, transferring pharmacy charges to the business office, prioritizing orders, entering and filling orders for pharmacist verification, and conducting daily rounds to check the emergency drug box and med-dispense machines, while handling all pharmaceutical-generated protected health information. Qualifications require state licensure or active enrollment in a program leading toward licensure as a Pharmacist, with eligibility through the Board of Pharmacy and, if applicable, foreign-credential pathways (FPGEC). The role is based in Colfax, LA, with opportunities to contribute within Encompass Health’s inpatient rehabilitation setting.
Required Qualifications
- Meets State board of pharmacy registration or licensure requirement in the state of employment.
- Enrolled in a professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy that has been approved by the Board and satisfactorily progressing toward meeting the requirements for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- A graduate of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of Pharmacy or a graduate who has established educational equivalency by obtaining a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certificate, who is currently licensed by the Board of Pharmacy for the purpose of obtaining practical experience as a requirement for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- Qualified applicant awaiting examination for licensure or meeting Board requirements for re-licensure.
