Job Summary
Pharmacy Intern responsibilities include inventory control and formulary maintenance, ordering and receiving, unit-dose dispensing, narcotics inventory management, floor stock maintenance, and required paperwork. The role handles pharmacy reporting, drug dispensing verification, narcotics monitoring, and ensures compliance with policy and PHI handling. Daily rounds, emergency drug box checks, and coordination of charges to the business office are part of the role, with emphasis on patient safety and clinical training in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. Licensure or active enrollment in an approved pharmacy program and eligibility for licensure are required, with potential pathways including State board licensure, FPGEC, or awaiting examination.
Required Qualifications
- Meets State board of pharmacy registration or licensure requirement in the state of employment.
- Enrolled in a professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy that has been approved by the Board and satisfactorily progressing toward meeting the requirements for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- A graduate of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of Pharmacy or a graduate who has established educational equivalency by obtaining a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination CommitteeTM (FPGEC®) Certificate, who is currently licensed by the Board of Pharmacy for the purpose of obtaining practical experience as a requirement for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- Qualified applicant awaiting examination for licensure or meeting Board requirements for re-licensure.
