Job Summary
Pharmacy Intern responsibilities include inventory control and formulary maintenance, ordering/receiving/storage of medications, replacing medications and dispensing machine refills using a unit-dose system, restocking floor stock per policy (including narcotics), maintaining necessary paperwork for pharmacy reporting/tracking, reviewing drug profiles and medications dispensed for accurate billing, reconciling narcotics, managing the narcotics sign-out file, ensuring floor stock (medication and IVs) are kept at appropriate par levels, maintaining emergency boxes per policy, updating the pharmacy inspection manual, transferring pharmacy charges to the business office, prioritizing orders based on drug schedule/necessity and delivering STAT orders promptly, entering and filling all orders for pharmacist verification, conducting daily rounds to check the emergency drug box and med dispense machines, and handling all PHI.
Required Qualifications
- Meets State board of pharmacy registration or licensure requirement in the state of employment.
- Enrolled in a professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy that has been approved by the Board and satisfactorily progressing toward meeting the requirements for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- A graduate of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of Pharmacy or a graduate who has established educational equivalency by obtaining a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination CommitteeTM (FPGEC®) Certificate, who is currently licensed by the Board of Pharmacy for the purpose of obtaining practical experience as a requirement for licensure as a Pharmacist; OR
- Qualified applicant awaiting examination for licensure or meeting Board requirements for re-licensure.
