Job Summary
3rd year Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health will support pharmacy teams across retail locations by following SOPs, assisting in prescription fulfillment, providing empathetic patient service, and participating in a structured training roadmap (KLEs) to prepare for a Pharmacist role. Responsibilities include assisting with immunizations when eligible, taking telephonic prescriptions under supervision, maintaining inventory procedures, and contributing to a safe, inclusive, and high-performing team environment. The role emphasizes learning through hands-on practice, collaboration with pharmacists and technicians, and ongoing development of clinical and technical knowledge. Preferred qualifications include 1+ years of related experience and ability to obtain immunization certification; flexibility to work in-store and across market locations; and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Required Qualifications
- Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
- Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
- Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
- Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
- Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
- Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate
- Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to use math to solve a problem related to prescriptions, days supply, and dispensing
- Problem Resolution: Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best action
- Physical Demands: mobility, lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally, etc.
- Compliance with CVS policies, patient safety, privacy, and regulatory requirements
- Willingness to travel to stores in the market to support business needs
