Pharmacy Intern

Job Summary
Obtain new patient's clinical and prescription plan coverage information and review new prescriptions under direct supervision of a Pharmacist. Ensure continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements as this position is categorized as compliance critical. Work onsite 10-20 hours per week while completing a Doctor of Pharmacy program, with flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team in a community pharmacy within an institutional setting to interact with a diverse patient population.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program
- Must be able to work 10-20 hours per week onsite while completing Pharmacy degree
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Good project management skills
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
- Must be eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible, accountable and can effectively handle multiple tasks at one time
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of computers to operative effectively with PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient care
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Basic knowledge of pharmacology, medication management, and pharmacy law
- Proficient in computer skills, including pharmacy software and electronic health records (EHR)
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Previous pharmacy experience (internship, externship, or work experience) is a plus but not required
- Familiarity with community pharmacy operations and institutional pharmacy practices
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care and maintaining professional standards
