Pharmacy Department Manager

Job Summary
Pharmacy Department Manager responsible for the overall operation of the assigned pharmacy department, directing staff and processes to improve prescription sales and patient count through exceptional customer service and professional image. Focused on profitability via cost-effective practices (e.g., generic dispensing, drug purchasing), regulatory compliance (DEA/state Board of Pharmacy), inventory management, training and development of staff, recruitment, payroll/scheduling, and internal controls. Leads workflow, maintains compliance with HIPAA and pharmacy software systems, and represents the department in cross-functional collaboration to optimize service quality and store performance.
Required Qualifications
- Current Board of Pharmacy license
- Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School; preferably with a Pharm.D. degree
- Progressively responsible experience in pharmacy and computer applications of pharmacy practice including implementation and development of new computer systems
- Over one year of related work experience
- Knowledge/experience with Siemens Pharmacy/Soarian is a plus
- PTCB certification (pharmacy technician or related)
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Supervisory experience and leadership capabilities
- Ability to manage budgeted payroll and scheduling, minimize overtime, and control labor costs
- Experience in improving prescription sales, patient count, and professional image
- Familiarity with DEA and state Board of Pharmacy regulations and proper recordkeeping
- Attention to confidentiality of personal health information (HIPAA)
- High attention to accuracy in dispensing and workflow procedures
