Job Summary
Pharmacy Clinical Specialist provides direct patient care as part of the multidisciplinary hospital team across ICU, Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics/Nursery, Emergency Department, and Ambulatory Infusion Center. Responsible for prescriber order verification; develops and assesses medication-related programs; assists in development of order sets, policies, and guidelines; participates in medication management, formulary management, and hospital committees; educates employees and precepts pharmacy students; supports a clinical ladder and weekend coverage every 4th weekend. Technologies include Meditech, automated dispensing cabinets, bar code administration, smart pumps, and CPOE.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or Bachelor of Science with hospital experience or PGY1 residency
- Eligibility for Virginia pharmacy licensure
- Pharmacy Board Certification encouraged
