Job Summary
Maintain pharmaceutical and supply inventory control while gathering financial data to monitor stock levels and manage the 340B program. Comply with departmental goals and strategic plans by executing dosage calculations, identifying medications, and adhering to legal requirements including NABP, TJC, DEA, FDA, and USP standards. Utilize proficiency in inventory management systems and procurement software to prioritize assignments and resolve standard problems within standardized operating procedures. Work independently and as part of a team to build relationships with healthcare providers, ensure patient privacy, and manage hazardous drugs in accordance with NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines. Full-time, 40-hour week Monday through Friday.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation of an accredited pharmacy technician program
- Met Board of Pharmacy requirements to obtain registration
- PHRMTECHR-Registered Pharmacy Technician
- PHARMC-Certified Pharmacy Technician
- 2 years of recent experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of generic and trade pharmaceutical names
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical laws and regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings
- Knowledge of narcotic delivery and procedures
- Ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping of medications
- Ability to carry out calculations for common dosage determination
- Knowledge and understanding of the identification of medications
- Knowledge of medication dosages
- Knowledge of routes of administration
- Knowledge of dosage forms
- Knowledge of storage requirements
- Proficiency in inventory management systems
- Proficiency in procurement software
- Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP)
- Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize assignments
- Ability to work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR
- Ability to carry out calculations and execute basic math skills needed for common dosage determination
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of the team
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
- Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options
