Job Summary
Pharmacy Billing Specialist positioned in Cedar Rapids, IA, responsible for processing customer bills and insurance claims, handling daily and month-end billing, and providing excellent service to patients, caregivers, medical providers, and insurers. Role requires researching patient eligibility with private and government payers, re-verifying coverage, entering/updating patient data in the billing system, and supporting Medicare/Medicaid/third-party billing requirements. Key duties include reviewing open enrollment periods, assisting residents with benefit options, managing daily census tasks, processing payments and credits, pursuing delinquent accounts when needed, handling prior authorizations and claim rejections, and generating necessary audit documentation. Emphasis on HIPAA compliance, accuracy, attention to detail, teamwork, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 1+ years of related experience and relevant pharmacy-billing knowledge are expected; national certification (PTCB/NHA) preferred or required per state regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration per state requirements; National Certification preferred (PTCB) may be required (pharmacy specific)
- MUST HAVE NATIONAL CERTIFICATION PTCB OR NHA
